Delano Franklin Township Area Historical Society

The list of immigrants listed below are connected in some fashion to Delano, Franklin Township and surrounding area. Their names and dates often vary from one event to another, as quite often they were recorded by another person, who wrote the names phonetically. Because of this, I have encountered many different or corrupted spellings, so I have decided to list the name spelling as it appears in on grave markers (in most cases). Names are listed in brackets under their earliest spelling, as found in church or civil records. Example: Schwirtz, Nicholas [Nicolaus Schwierz].

Many public libraries are now affiliate libraries of FamilySearch. These libraries often provide Ancestry.com, free for public use. Privately, familysearch.org is free and Ancestry.com costs. But, you can access Ancestry.com at many public libraries for free.

My purpose was to identify and/or verify where the immigrant came from. I have consulted documents leading to the place of origin, so that you can further extend your research. I cannot guarantee 100% accuracy. If you find mistakes, please provide documentation, so I can correct errors or dispute them. Census lists and passenger lists often contain mispelled names and inaccurate dates. As you research, keep a flexible mind and expect differences in records.

Zimkoski/Ziemkowski, Elizabeth/Lizzie [Elisabeth Fautsch] wife of Anthony/Anton Ziemkowski and daughter of Bartek/Bartholomaeus Niedworok Fautsch and Eva Frymark/Frimark/Frühmark/, was born on 4 November 1862 and baptized on 9 November 1862 in Brinnitz, Oppeln, Silesia (now Brynica, Opole Poland). She boarded the vessel Borussia in Hamburg, Germany on 16 May 1868 with her parents and siblings and arrived at the Port of New York on 2 June 1868. She married Anton/Anthoy Ziemkowski on 9 November 1884 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano, Minnesota. In 1900 she was a resident of Franklin Township - Delano Village. She died 25 May 1944 in Granite Falls, Yellow Medicine, Minnesota, United States and was buried at Calvary Cemetery in Delano, Wright, Minnesota.
