Rieder Meat Market
EST. 1911
150 River Street North
For generations, Rieder Meat Market was a beloved fixture of downtown Delano and one of the community’s longest-running family businesses. The site at 150 River Street North had housed a meat market since 1876, and in 1911 Leonard J. Rieder and August Schilling established Rieder & Schilling Meat Market. The present building was constructed in 1920, and after Schilling’s death, the business continued through generations of the Rieder family, becoming known for quality meats, personal service, and strong ties to the community. Both Leonard J. Rieder and his son Laurence served as mayors of Delano, further connecting the family to the city’s history. After 115 years under the Rieder name, the market closed in July 2026 with the retirement of third-generation owner Laurence “Bud” Rieder Jr., bringing to a close a remarkable chapter in Delano’s downtown history.
